Emerging Playwrights is a play-writing competition sponsored by Riverwalk Theatre. The competition is open to high school students in Ingham, Eaton and Clinton Counties. Students in grades 9-12 are invited to write short one-act plays and submit them to the competition. Five plays will be selected for production and each author will receive a $1000 prize.
2024 Competition Calendar
February 7 - Application Deadline - Scripts are no longer being accepted.
April 1 - Scripts given to judges for review and ranking.
May 1 - Authors of the winning scripts announced.
June 26 - Award Certificates and $1000 checks presented to the 5 authors of the winning scripts.
Summer 2024 - The Emerging Playwrights Festival: Two scripts will be presented as full productions and three scripts will be presented as staged readings at Riverwalk Theatre.
